Prunus persica 'Melred' Peach Tree, Pink-Red blooms, height 70-80cm, 3-liter pot.

The Prunus persica ‘Melred’ is a special peach tree that beautifully combines ornamental value and fruit production. In early spring, often as early as March, this tree buds with striking, intensely pink to red blossoms. This abundant bloom often appears before the leaves, making the tree a true eye-catcher in the garden. In addition to its decorative character, ‘Melred’ also produces delicious, sweet peaches. The fruits are small to medium-sized, with a yellow-red skin and a pleasantly sweet taste. They ripen around September and are suitable for eating fresh or processing. This combination of ornamental blossom and edible fruit makes this variety particularly popular among garden enthusiasts seeking the best of both worlds. The tree grows compactly, making it very suitable for smaller gardens, as well as for espalier forms or as a container plant on the patio. It prefers a warm, sunny, and sheltered spot, for example against a south-facing wall. Although ‘Melred’ is self-pollinating, the yield can be increased by manual pollination during flowering. Peach trees can be susceptible to leaf curl in the spring. In most cases, the tree recovers from this on its own, especially when planted in a good location. For a strong start and optimal growth, you can use high-quality planting soil when planting and fertilize annually with organic grower's fertilizer.
