Ribes rubrum 'Witte Hollander', White currant, Height approximately 30cm, 1.5 liter pot.

Ribes rubrum ‘Witte Hollander’ is a white currant with clusters of translucent, yellowish-white berries. The fruit tastes fresh and sweet and is delicious straight from the bush, in desserts, or processed into jelly. This deciduous fruit bush is suitable for a vegetable garden, fruit border, or a spacious pot on the patio. Flowering, pollination, and harvest Small flowers appear in spring, followed by clusters of berries that usually ripen in July. This variety is self-pollinating: a second variety is not necessary for fruit set. Pollinating insects and favorable weather during flowering aid in the harvest. Allow the berries to ripen fully and preferably pick complete clusters. If necessary, protect ripening berries from birds with a carefully placed net. Location and water Choose a sunny spot for well-ripening, sweeter fruit. Light partial shade is also tolerated, but the harvest may be later there. The soil must be fertile, retain moisture, and allow excess water to drain away. Water after planting and during dry periods. A layer of compost helps keep the soil moist. In a pot, drainage holes and regular watering are important. Pruning and maintenance White currants bear fruit on older wood and short fruiting branches. Therefore, do not cut all branches back to the ground every year. Remove dead and crossing wood in winter and keep the center of the bush open. Gradually rejuvenate an older bush by removing a few old branches. The final height can reach approximately 1.75 meters, depending on care and pruning.
