Product description:To determine the lime requirement for garden, lawn and potting soils · The fertility of a soil depends primarily on its humus and lime content. While the humus supply is rarely too high, the supply of lime to the soil must be carried out according to precise pH measurement. A weakly acidic soil reaction (pH 6 to 7) promotes the metabolism in the soil and thus improves plant nutrition. However, too much lime can reduce the availability of phosphate and trace elements for the plants. That's why a soil test is one of the first steps, both in the garden and in the field. Use the pH soil test from Neudorff to quickly and inexpensively determine the lime condition and the level of lime required in the soil.- Depending on the lime content, the soils are divided into strongly acidic, acidic, weakly acidic and neutral soils (see colour chart on the package).- The requirements of the plant species on the pH value of the soil vary. In general, the soil should be slightly acidic to neutral. Only a few plants can tolerate a little more soil acid.- The lime content in the soil is reduced primarily by the leaching of the lime into the subsoil, also by the lime absorption of the plants, by acid rain and by fertiliser with ammonium sulphate or Epsom salts.- If the pH value has dropped sharply, i.e. the soil is acidic, a recovery liming must be carried out.- Maintenance liming replaces the annual lime removal, to keep the soil in good condition. Application:for: the determination of the lime requirement (pH value) of cultivated soilsProperties:Soil test set for the simple and accurate determination of the lime requirement (pH value) of cultivated floors based on a dyeing reaction can be carried out by anyone without prior chemical knowledge in a few minutes The necessary amount of lime can be easily determined using simple tables is one of the first steps in soil improvement, as knowledge of the lime requirement is very important. This is because lime neutralises soil acid and thus creates good conditions for active soil life. A weakly acidic soil reaction (pH 6 -7) promotes the turnover of substances in the soil and thus improves plant nutrition. However, an excess of lime can reduce the availability of phosphate and trace elements for the plants. with reagents and auxiliary utensils for 8 testsInstructions for use:Taking of soil samplesGarden land: Take 4 soil samples of the same size from a depth of 50 m² each with a small shovel or drill stick from a depth of 5 to 20 cm and mix them thoroughly. Grassland (lawns, pastures, meadows): The sample is taken from a depth of 0-10 cm. The subsoil sample is carried out from a depth of 10-25 cm. Cut out a triangular block (approx. 5-10 cm side length) with a knife and lift it out. Scrape the soil evenly from top to bottom with a spoon on the side, put the block back into the lawn and tread firmly. Arable land: Take average samples from uniform soils from a depth of approx. 0-20 cm, namely approx. 40-50 punctures per hectare using a drill stick. If the latter is missing, the sample can be taken with a spade. The following points should be considered:- Mixed samples should only be taken from the same soil type and from soils with the same crop rotation.- A mixed sample should be approx. 500 g per hectare. Stones must be read.- The sample must be mixed well.- Depressions, elevations or other inequalities must be examined separately. Defects, spots, molehills, bog holes as well as all places where stable manure, lime or fertilizer have been stored are to be omitted.- Take the samples at least 5
