New Riverstone Audio Record-Level Turntable Stylus Tracking Force Gauge/Scale Product Details A professional tracking force gauge designed for vinyl record enthusiasts who require precise measurement of vertical tracking force (VTF). For accurate VTF measurement, the stylus tip should be at the same vertical position as the record surface—known as "record level." With Riverstone's professional VTF gauge, vertical tracking force is measured approximately 2 mm to 3 mm from the surface of a turntable mat or platter, matching the height of a stylus tip resting on an LP record (LPs range from 1.9 mm to 2.9 mm in thickness). This design allows measurement without removing the platter mat, as the gauge arm positions the stylus at the correct height. In contrast, less expensive gauges typically measure at 6 to 10 mm above the surface, which can result in inaccurate readings. To minimize interference with moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, the gauge is constructed from durable plastic, and the detachable cantilevered extension arm is made from non-ferromagnetic stainless steel. Two calibration masses (5g and 20g) are included for quick recalibration (a one-minute procedure). The gauge can be recalibrated for use up to 100 g using larger calibration masses (not included). A polymer pad on the measuring platform protects the stylus tip and ensures accurate centering during measurement. The bright green LED display is easy to read.
