3.5 Inch Rustproof Copper Stump Nails

This 25-piece hardware set delivers a complete solution for non-mechanical stump management: 23 pure copper nails (3.5 inches long × 3.5 mm thick), 1 stainless steel nail (same dimensions), and 1 cobalt-alloy drill bit nail (2.7 inches × 3.5 mm). All items share identical shank thickness for seamless integration during installation. Copper provides inherent antimicrobial and anti-root activity; stainless steel ensures reliable pilot hole formation; cobalt HSS offers exceptional edge retention under repetitive impact and friction. Copper’s mode of action is electrochemical — upon contact with moisture in decaying wood, it generates low-level Cu²⁺ ions that interfere with enzyme function in cambial tissue, halting regeneration. Because copper remains localised within the stump, nearby soil biology and adjacent plant roots remain unaffected. To apply: lightly tap the stainless steel nail or cobalt drill bit into the outer ring of the stump to establish entry points, then drive copper nails flush using a standard ball-peen hammer. Repeat around the circumference at 2–3 inch intervals for best efficacy — no mixing, spraying, or waiting for weather windows required.
