Bonsai Soil Rake And Root Tweezer Set

A dedicated two-tool kit engineered for micro-scale soil and root manipulation: the rake features four 1.2 mm diameter tines spaced 4 mm apart on a 12 cm shaft; the tweezers have 0.8 mm tip precision with 11 cm overall length and softly rounded handle ends. Both made from non-magnetic, food-grade compatible stainless steel — chosen for inertness in moist organic substrates and ease of sterilisation. Functions include breaking up hardened surface layers post-watering, guiding fine roots into position during transplanting, extracting embedded debris from crevices between nebari and trunk base, and adjusting top-dressing depth without displacing underlying soil structure. Compatible with standard UK bonsai media — akadama, pumice, lava rock — and widely used with houseplant mixes containing coco coir or perlite. Designed for repetitive, low-force movements — not heavy-duty cultivation — this set replaces improvised tools like toothpicks, chopsticks, or bent paperclips that lack consistency, hygiene, or longevity. Its size and simplicity make it equally appropriate for first-time growers learning root inspection and seasoned practitioners executing formal root-over-rock compositions.
