Double Spool Wooden Yarn Winder

Hand-finished from solid natural wood, this double-spindle yarn winder offers exceptional density and grain consistency — resulting in a smooth, splinter-free surface and inherent resistance to impact or moisture-related swelling. Dimensions: 18 cm diameter × 6 cm height; mass: 420 g. Two identically sized wooden spools attach magnetically to a central hub, rotating independently with minimal drag. The base integrates a 14 cm-long utility groove (ideal for 12–15 cm scissors or Tunisian hooks) and three shallow, square-cut accessory cells — each sized to hold ~8–10 standard UK stitch markers or a set of interchangeable cable connectors. The magnetic coupling system was developed through iterative testing with UK-based knitters — prioritising immediate snap-in retention, zero lateral drift, and effortless disengagement. Dual spools enable true concurrent winding: e.g., winding a main colour and contrast motif yarn together for seamless Fair Isle prep, or building two identical 50 g cakes from one 100 g hank — cutting total prep time nearly in half compared to sequential methods. Widely adopted in Scottish weaving guilds, London-based knit-along organisers, and Welsh fibre farms packaging handspun — its neutral wood tone complements both modern minimalist studios and traditional cottage interiors, while its robustness supports daily use in commercial settings such as yarn shop floor demos or craft fair pop-ups.
