Heavy-Duty Adjustable Compass for Timber

A high-functionality divider designed specifically for timber-based applications — from site carpentry to fine furniture making. Its mechanical design prioritises repeatable accuracy: legs pivot smoothly across a true 180° arc, with positive lock engagement at any setting. Tips are made from No.45 steel — heat-treated for hardness and wear resistance — ensuring sharp registration on rough-sawn lumber, planed stock, or coated panels. The frame combines rigid zinc alloy arms with a lightweight plastic body to manage inertia and improve control. Two configurations are available: Type 1 (max radius 450 mm) suits bench-level work like hinge template layout or door stile marking; Type 2 (max radius 750 mm) handles floor-level tasks including circular staircase layout or large-format jig fabrication. Each includes a rotary switch to raise or lower the pen holder — accommodating standard pencils, technical pens, or fine-tip markers. Measured extended lengths: 250 × 900 mm (Type 1), 400 × 1500 mm (Type 2); package footprints are minimal at 260 × 30 × 30 mm and 460 × 30 × 30 mm respectively. Total weights remain under 300 g — significantly lighter than comparable all-metal models without sacrificing stiffness.
