Outboard Motion Control Lock

Size note: Minor dimensional variation (±1–3 cm) inherent to injection moulding process. Mass: Under 200 g for convenient portability. Composition: Non-conductive, non-corrosive plastic with matte finish to reduce glare in direct sunlight. Range: Confirmed functional on hydraulic steering rods of common UK-sold outboards including Evinrude E-TEC, Suzuki DF, and Honda BF series. Role: A mechanical stabiliser that fixes steering axis orientation during non-propulsion phases. Core functionality: Converts the steering column into a rigid beam rather than a pivoting lever during transport — redirecting kinetic energy away from vulnerable hydraulic internals and into the robust lock structure itself. The large grip area ensures positive engagement even with damp or salt-caked hands, and the curved cable avoids sharp bends that compromise longevity. Ideal use cases: Standard issue for UK-based yacht club trailer fleets; specified in Marine Management Organisation (MMO) guidelines for registered commercial fishing tenders; trusted by Thames River pilot boat operators for daily docking stability assurance.
