Root Asymmetric Strategy Tabletop Game

Root is a premium asymmetric strategy board game designed for thoughtful adult play. The base game contains 4 faction boards, 160+ cards (including suits, orders, and crafts), 80+ sustainably sourced birch plywood pieces (warriors, buildings, items), 1 forest map board, and a fully illustrated rulebook. Box size: 30.5 × 30.5 × 9 cm; weight: 1.8 kg. Cardstock is 300 gsm linen-finish; boards are 2.5 mm thick with spot UV terrain detailing; wood pieces are precision-cut and sanded smooth. Each faction — Marquise de Cat, Woodland Alliance, Eyrie Dynasty, Vagabond — has exclusive turn structure, resource generation, movement logic, and victory path. Players compete not for points, but for control, sympathy, stability, or quest completion — meaning tactics shift dynamically as alliances form and collapse. No dice or randomness govern outcomes; all results stem from deliberate choices and counterplay. Riverfolk, Underworld, and Clockwork are official expansions sold separately. Riverfolk adds trade routes and a merchant faction; Underworld overlays underground tunnels and hidden loyalties; Clockwork provides solo automa decks and programmable mechanical opponents — each expanding possibility space while respecting the base game’s elegant design language.
